This is a default privacy notice provided by Net Intellect for Net Intellect's guest WiFi captive portal. Net Intellect should review and replace this with their own privacy notice published on their website where applicable.
For every guest who connects we record a minimal anonymous entry:
If — and only if — you tick the consent box and provide an email, we additionally record:
If you choose "Just connect — skip the email", or enter an email but do NOT tick the consent box, we record only the anonymous entry above — no email, no IP, no user-agent, no device fingerprint.
Technical note: for up to 1 hour after you connect, your device's MAC address and the IP address you connected from are briefly held in a short-lived technical state table solely so the WiFi sign-in popup on your device (and the RFC 8908 captive-portal API your device polls) can detect that the network is open and dismiss itself. This entry is automatically deleted within one hour and is never used for marketing, analytics, or any other purpose.
If you tick the consent box, Net Intellect adds your email to its mailing list and uses it to send news about upcoming events. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email — under one click, no questions asked.
Your email address is kept for as long as you want to receive news from Net Intellect. Unsubscribing stops any further emails; to have your sign-up record itself deleted, ask us using the contact in "Your rights" below and we will remove it within 30 days.
The device details recorded when you sign up — your device's MAC address and the IP address you connected from — are technical data only. They are automatically erased 12 months after you sign up; your email itself stays on the mailing list.
The anonymous connection records (which hold no email, MAC, or IP address) are kept for up to 24 months for visitor-number reporting, then automatically deleted.
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data. Email us at info@netintellect.co.uk and we'll respond within 30 days.
Net Intellect (data controller) uses Net Intellect (data processor) to host the captive portal and store sign-up data. Net Intellect is registered with the UK ICO and operates under a Data Processing Agreement with Net Intellect.
